Dear sisters, friends, compatriots, our esteemed veterans!
We wholeheartedly congratulate you on May 9th – the Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War! This day will forever remain in our hearts as a symbol of indomitable will, boundless love for the Motherland, and the greatest feat of the Soviet people. We, women, the keepers of the home, know the value of peace and tranquility. And we remember the price at which this Victory was won.
The Great Patriotic War spared no one. Women stood shoulder to shoulder with men to protect their children, their families, their country. They were pilots, snipers, nurses, signal operators. They carried the wounded from the battlefield, worked at machines, grew grain, dug trenches – and at the same time remained mothers, wives, and sisters. Every family keeps its own story of those who did not return and of those who survived, rebuilt the country from ruins, and gave us a future.
In the International Women’s Union, we have united representatives of different nations and cultures. But May 9th is a holiday that is close to each of us, because the victory was common. Our fathers, grandfathers, great-grandfathers fought shoulder to shoulder, regardless of nationality and religion. And today our duty is to carefully preserve this memory, pass it on to children and grandchildren, and defend the truth about the war against any attempts to rewrite history.
Special words of gratitude today go to our dear veterans. To those who went through the hell of war and brought us the light of Victory. We bow low to you, wish you health, warmth, and the care of your loved ones. We are always there, we remember, we are proud. May the sky above our Motherland and above the whole world be peaceful. May children grow up without fear, and may women never know the horrors of war. We wish you happiness, goodness, well-being, and faith in a better future.
