We won a grant from the Mayor of Moscow

In September 2024, our project “Formation of Russian and Moscow cultural identity” was recognized as the winner of the competitive selection of applications from socially oriented non-profit organizations to provide a Grant from the budget of the city of Moscow in 2024 in the nomination “Our Heritage”. Project execution period: from 01.01.2025– 12/31/2025

The aim of the project is to raise awareness and competence of Moscow residents and tourism organizations on issues of cultural identity in the space of traditions and innovations, within the framework of a multipolar world, questions about Moscow’s art and architecture, religion and customs, and the modern development of Moscow.

For Moscow, as for the whole of Russia, with its large territories and multinational population, the issue of identity is particularly acute. The concept of identity includes many factors.

Russia is a country with a rich culture that continues to develop today. Historical heritage, modern art, literature and cinema -all this forms the image of Russia. The Russian language remains the main unifying factor for all the peoples of the country. At the same time, the support and development of the languages of the peoples of Russia also plays an important role in the formation of a common identity. Despite the diversity of cultures, religions and traditions, there are common values for all – family, friendship, mutual assistance. Moscow, as the capital, has always been the center of Russia, its unifying force. Moscow is actively implementing and using the spiritual and moral aspects of countering global threats and risks directed against the unity of the multinational people of Russia. The identification potential of creative cultural industries, for the most part, is concentrated in Moscow. The capital stands firmly on a civic position – active participation in society, concern for the environment, social initiatives and volunteerism – all this is becoming an important part of the self-determination of many Muscovites. Moscow’s architectural monuments, such as the Kremlin and the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, are symbols of Russian cultural identity. In the modern world, Russian identity is constantly changing and developing. It absorbs new trends, but at the same time retains its roots. And Moscow, as the capital, is the initiator of these trends, the continuer of development and the keeper of Russia’s cultural heritage.

The project “Formation of Russian and Moscow Cultural Identity” is being implemented with the support of the Committee for Public Relations and Youth Policy of the City of Moscow.
