Anna Vasilets, Director of the medical tourism Department of the International Womens Union, Founder and President of the Atlas of Health group of companies, told about current trends in maternity tourism in the Special report program.

On February 21, 2020, Anna Vasilets, founder and President of the Atlas of Health group of companies, member of the General Council of Delovaya Rossiya LLC, Director of the medical tourism Department of the International Womens Union, spoke about the peculiarities of maternity tourism in Russia as a guest expert on the Moscow 24 TV channel.

Why do foreigners come to give birth in Russia? Among the citizens of which countries are childbirth popular in Russia? What needs to be done for the development of “maternity tourism” in Russia? These issues are directly related to the development of medical tourism in our country.

Anna Vasilets noted that now the trend of incoming tourist flow of medical tourists from the CIS countries and China is clearly highlighted. Citizens of the CIS countries go to Russia for the provision of maternity services due to the provision of highly qualified assistance and better service, representatives of the PRC are mainly consumers of IVF services, which further entails maternity services.

At the same time, according to Anna Vasilets, there is a problem in Russia when illegal migrants give birth in our country. Childbirth is an urgent aid, the woman in labor is obliged to provide free qualified assistance, as a result-this is an additional budget expenditure on the part of our state.

The President of ATLAS Health group stressed that maternity tourism needs significant improvements, both at the legislative level and in the internal structure of clinics. In order for Russia to earn more from medical tourists who come to give birth in our country or perform IVF procedures, it is necessary to improve the service and improve the conditions for receiving foreign patients.
