The jury members had a difficult task…to choose the best 200 of all the participants of the International Children’s Drawing Contest “Humanity inside the War” who entered the competition.
The statistics of the 1st International Children’s Drawing Contest “Humanity inside the War” are as follows:
– Accepted applications: 6311
-Admitted to the competition: 3833
– Number of participating countries: 15
From among the finalists, the International Jury will select 20 winners, which will be announced on June 10.

The project is designed to help the youth community learn history first-hand, and it also encourages discussion of war and wars to better understand the tragic events that take place in the war and post-war period. The focus of the project “Humanity within War” is on the individual and collective aspects of humanity within the framework of military events, striving to highlight elements and situations that go in the direction of respect for the opponent, male or female, even if he wears a different uniform or belongs to a different culture.
The project “Humanity inside the War” is based on the historical story “What an amazing Guy”, written by Ferdinando Pascolo. “What an amazing Guy” is a historical novel by Ferdinand Pascolo-alias “Silla” originally from Friuli, about an Italian soldier who first fought on the territory of the USSR, and then in the partisan resistance against the fascist regime in Italy.
In the novel, the author describes his personal life until the last days of the Second World War. Silla’s story is full of humanity, generosity, and altruism, despite the historical context and political criticism of a war where the other side is the clear enemy. Ferdinando Pascolo in his book does not talk about the military operations, but tells how he managed to feed and meet the basic needs of the soldiers in this difficult wartime. It is these pages that give us a moral and ethical lesson in full.
